About Us

Archaeogroup, (formerly Archaeological Advisory Group), is a small, tightly-knit organization that prides itself in providing top-quality, legally and ethically sound, archaeological and historical studies. We have been working on cultural resource management studies throughout southern California since our founding in 1980. Our clients include Federal, State, County, and City agencies; civil engineering firms; environmental consulting firms; and private developers.

Our staff provides an excellent assemblage of experts on prehistoric and historical archaeology in California, along with expertise from associates specializing in history, architectural history, and ethnography. We have a reputation among our clients for providing high-quality research for reasonable fees.

Click To EnlargeWho is this guy at a famous California historical landmark? What is the Landmark? It's our Director, Jim Brock, and the site is Sutter's Fort in Sacramento. He is usually the Principal Investigator on our projects. His experience? How about 27 years as a Principal Investigator in southern California archaeology. He is a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA), with a MA degree from the University of Durham (UK) and a BA from UCSB. Also a stint as a Research Associate at the University of Edinburgh. He has written numerous articles and some books and is modest enough not to like us blowing his horn here. He also co-starred in a 1995 horror movie shot in Pioneertown and is a fairly accomplished artist and poet.
